  • Baby Shots Line

    Parents of infants can call the Baby Shots Line to make sure their child has had all the shots he/she needs to be protected from dangerous childhood diseases. The Baby Shots Line will be answered by a bilingual (English/Spanish) nurse, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. The nurse will assess the immunization record and let the parent know if the child is up-to-date. If not up-to-date, parents will be referred to either their own doctor, or to the closest clinic that will provide FREE IMMUNIZATIONS for children under the age of two. they also provide referrals to where kids over 2 may be able to get free or reduced cost immunizations.

    Black infants in the United States are twice as likely to die before their first birthday than babies of any other ethnic group. The Black Infant Health Program was implemented in seventeen jurisdictions throughout California in response to the increasing disparities between African American infant mortality and that of other ethnic groups. Black Infant Health is a community service program funded by the State of California Department of Health Services MCH Branch and the County of San Diego Health and Human Service Agency. We are dedicated to reducing the infant mortality rate (IMR) in the African American community by helping parents access necessary resources and information to ensure better health and well being for their children and their families.
